In the D

Detroit plays a huge part of this blog. It’s where I’m from, where I live and what I do. I’m not sure if dating here is different than other places, but I’ve been told it has. Are your experiences close to mine or are they different? Do people from New York or Chicago have a different outlook on dating?

Detroit may be big in square miles, but there are only two degrees of separation from other people. So it wouldn't be too hard for people to guess who I was if I was to put someone’s real name on this blog.

I find Detroit a very interesting place. We have a lot of ethnic diversity, but a lot of racism as well. There’s a huge city that’s just empty lots in a lot of places. And small suburbs have more vibrant downtowns than Detroit.

Don’t get me wrong. I absolutely love Detroit. I enjoy a lot of things about this area. I love all of the cultural events, outdoor festivals and the pride we take in music. From Motown to Eminem and house music to jazz, we have music for everyone. The funny thing is, when you live here, you can’t find anything to do, but people from out of town always have fun when they are here.

So I’ll tell the stories of my dates and the places we go and maybe even make some recommendations. I’ll let you know where I meet these crazy guys and other fun things that are happening in the D.
