I absolutely hate when a guy calls me on a Friday and expects that I'll be free and ready to go out that night. Why is there no consideration for my schedule? Even if my plan is just to sit at home that night, its still a plan that I know that I'm doing. Why should I get out of my comfy clothes, put on some make up and go out with someone that doesn't even give me more than a couple hours notice.
This happens quite often. But for some reason this guy today has really irked me. Meet this cop on Labor Day weekend. (I'm a sucker for a guy in uniform) We spoke for a good 30 minutes, and he was on duty. Since then its been a couple of text messages here and there. Often when he has text me, I was busy as I do a lot of volunteer work or just end up working late.
A few weeks ago he said he wanted to see me. I told him I'm usually off work after 6pm. His text response was "OK." That didn't leave me with much of a comeback, so I haven't responded since then.
Today he sent a text and the first few were the obligatory greetings and how you do's. So here's our text exchange:
- Cop: I wanted to know would you like to go out
- Me: Sure, when were you thinking?
- Cop: When are you free?
- Me: Friday or saturday of this week are free right now
- Cop: OK [again with this damn OK!]
- Me: So does that mean you're available one of those days
- Cop: I should be
- Me: Let me know when you can, I may be making plans with a friend
- Cop: OK, I'll let you no (minus a point for not using know)
WTF! I'm irritated now
So what am I supposed to do? Sit and wait for him to make a decision? How is it Wednesday and you don't know if you're working this weekend mister police officer? Am I not supposed to make other plans, because he may or may not be available. Didn't he just ask me out, so why didn't he suggest some dates that he knew he was free?
Its no wonder this guy and I haven't been out. And why do so many guys do this? Your schedule doesn't matter.
Well news flash babe, I'm not waiting by the phone waiting for you to call. Even if I just go up to my local watering hole, I'm going out. Or if I crash on the couch since its been a long week, I have plans. If you want to have some plans with me, I suggest you do it quickly because my calendar fills up fast.
